La Vie Parisienne
Break open the bubbly! After the year we’ve had, we’ve all earned a glass of champagne, and no music sparkles more brightly than Gaîté Parisienne, the classic ballet that takes Offenbach’s fizziest tunes and gives them a luxury makeover. Think can-cans, joie-de-vivre and Belle Époque Paris in all its ritzy, raucous excess. Our Parisian guest conductor Fabien Gabel is bringing it all back tonight: the crowning flourish of a French-themed concert that begins with Ravel’s ravishing book of musical fairytales and features pianist Alexandra Dariescu in his brilliant, jazz-influenced Concerto in G. Naughty – but very, very nice.
