S1, E1: On 30 August 2014, writer and photographer Levison Wood became the first person to walk the entire length of the River Nile, completing his mammoth 4250-mile adventure. His ambitious nine-month challenge came to an end in Rosetta in Egypt, where the Nile pours into the Mediterranean Sea.Driven by a fascination with contemporary Africa, Levison began his expedition in the densely forested highlands of Rwanda, continuing along the banks of the Nile through Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt. Travelling through rainforests, deserts, cities and war zones in some of the continent's most remote and spectacular locations, Levison has encountered modern Africa and its people and wildlife. - Contains scenes that some viewers may find upsetting
