Edinburgh
S1, E1: Comedian Susan Calman starts her journey around Edinburgh and Scotland's stunning East Coast. Edinburgh is a city she has visited many times as a performer at the Festival Fringe but now she has the opportunity to get behind the scenes. Starting at the iconic castle dominating the city skyline, she gets behind the scenes access to the firing of the 1 o'clock gun and discovers the secret hiding place of Scotland's crown jewels during World War Two. Moving underground, she has a haunting experience as she delves into the ghostly history of Edinburgh's criminal past, before setting her sights further afield, as she sets sail for the Forth Bridge and hears the lesser known tragedy behind its construction. In St Andrews, the spiritual home of golf, she gets to grips with a charming variation of the game, pulling on her plus fours to master Hickory Golf. Then, at the world famous Rosslyn Chapel, she finds that a former RAF code breaker and his son have discovered centuries old secrets hidden in the very walls.
