Volendam: A Refugee Story
Two thousand Mennonite refugees are desperate to escape the rubble of post-World War II Germany as the brutal Soviet dictator Stalin demands his people back. The Mennonites face life in Siberian prison camps or even death if shipped back east. A two-year saga involving a four star American general, a Soviet Commissar, the Queen of the Netherlands, dozens of American and Canadian Mennonite aid workers and an old passenger ship begins to find the refugees a new home.
