A school class ventures into the mudflats with their teacher but returns without him, raising concerns as to whether he was a reckless man who endangered his students and lost his life or if some diabolical students saw an opportunity to rid themselves of a hated teacher. Ann Kathrin is skeptical of such theories and initially lets the prime suspect, student Laura, go free.
