Bloom, an ordinary girl, discovers she has magical powers when she is caught up in a fight between a fairy, Stella and an ogre, Mr. Knut.

Stella introduces Bloom, who arrives at Alfea, to her roommates Musa, Tecna and Flora; the Senior Witches and Mr. Knut gang up on Bloom.

All the girls are excited about the Alfea and Red Fountain ball, but the Trix show up to spoil things; Bloom takes on the Senior Witches by herself and transforms for the first time.

The girls go on a school field trip to test their ability to work with nature without magic; the club members have their first outdoor training exercise in the Black Mud Swamp.

Stella is kidnapped by the Senior Witches and Mr. Knut while on a mystery date with Prince Sky.

A restricted book opens for Bloom and she learns about the myth of the Great Dragon.
