Handyman Superstar Challenge

After three days of hard work and handy-ness, challenge number three calls for a little team spirit as our eight remaining superstar-wannabees pair-up to build a bridge. Unfortunately for our bottom four contestants, it’s on to building some simple stairs for a chance to stay in the competition.

Back again for the third year is the infamous obstacle course. Our remaining handymen race against the clock to successfully execute a series of simple tasks. Then it’s off to mitre some simple moulding for our fellas who failed the first challenge.

How good are the contestants on paper? Drawing inspiration from a simple drawing, our remaining contestants have just three hours to build a piece of furniture. Then for the bottom-three, it’s off to play with plywood again for a chance to stay put in the competition.

The pressure is on for the final challenge before, well, the final superstar-determining final challenge. A rather simple, familiar handyman task, it’s the first time ever on handyman superstar challenge where we are asking our contestants to fashion a wooden fence.

The remaining three contestants have made it to the finale. The winner-takes-all superstar-determining final challenge requires them, with a small crew at their disposal, to build a small shed structure in just eight hours.

The kick off. First, our top twenty candidates compete in a tense, time-sensitive freestyle challenge. With a couple of sheets of plywood, and a slew of accessories to choose from, our twenty wannabee handymen have just one hour to build whatever they want to secure a spot in this year’s TOP 10. With the top ten selected, it’s time to face their judges, head on. With Mike and Jim waiting in their respective 'dens', our contestants ready themselves for some deceptively simple skill-testing and knowledge-evaluating challenges. Cut out a square and a quarter-moon; answer building code questions; then, figure out what’s wrong with the double sink/dishwasher/ electrical installation.
