Shohei Ohtani

Baseball player Shohei "Shotime" Ohtani was born in Japan. Ohtani showed interest and talent in baseball early on and set new records through his high school years. He wanted to play in Major League Baseball, but agreed to sign with Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan out of high school. Ohtani signed a deal with the MLB in 2017, with the Los Angeles Angels, and played with them until 2023. In 2024 he became a designated hitter and pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Career highlights include American League Rookie of the Year in 2018, National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player in 2025 and his team was World Series champion in 2024 and 2025.
