The Yellow Cab Man

Red Skelton stars as an accident-prone inventor who can't stay out of trouble and can't hold a job--until he's hired to drive a taxi as The Yellow Cab Man. Red Pirdy (Skelton) finally makes his girlfriend Ellen Goodrich (Gloria DeHaven) happy when he lands the job as a hack, although he's very nearly fired on his first day. But success soon seems to be as fleeting as ever for Pirdy when he tries to demonstrate his latest invention and things go terribly awry. But he redeems himself when he manages to capture a gang of crooks in a slapstick scene of heroics that involves a revolving model home, a toaster shooting hypodermic needles, a helium balloon and a swing from warehouse rafters worthy of an urban Tarzan.
