The Madones

The Madones are three sisters – Gladys, Stella and Rose Madone. Once a successful musical trio, they have since fallen into obscurity. As the story opens, Rose, who suffers from schizophrenia, is having a psychotic episode. Stella has been Rose's caregiver for years and is at her wit's end. She asks Rose’s son, Maurice, to take over his mother’s care but Maurice refuses. He has a girlfriend, Rita, and his own life to worry about, and taking care of a mother who “talks to the walls” is out of the question. The oldest sister, Gladys, has been estranged from her sisters since the breakup of the group fifteen years ago. She could not endure the burden of her sister’s illness and chose instead to pursue her own singing career, with modest success. Stella is resentful of Gladys – not just because Gladys abandoned her, but for deep secrets the sisters have kept buried for years. Amid the chaos, Stella's ex-boyfriend, Adonis Aucoin, shows up having just been released from prison. He's brought two others with him - his ex-cellmate Spencer ‘Dolls’ Dollimont and Wayne, a banker, whom Adonis and Dolls have kidnapped as part of Adonis’ get-rich now scheme. When Gladys arrives back in town after 15 years of estrangement with the idea of a Madones reunion, Stella cannot contain a lifetime of resentment in the film's explosive climax.
