The Essence of Water

Water has given the Earth its name: the Blue Planet. There are an incredible 1.4 billion cubic kilometres of water on our planet. 97 per cent of all water is contained in the oceans. The Pacific alone covers half the globe. It was in water that life first emerged, and even today no organism can survive without water.
