Detective Song Ci

When the body of the high-ranking Li family’s son is discovered in the wilderness, the surviving members of the family are beside themselves. Knowing the tragic death of their son couldn’t have died by any natural causes, the family calls on the help of renowned detective, Song Ci (He Da). Quickly realizing something about the Li family isn’t quite right, Song Ci sends people to monitor the family’s home, day and night. While Song Ci is prepared for any number of outcomes from his investigation, watching dozens of people within the Li family mansion suddenly transform into straw-filled scarecrows isn’t one of them. Completely stumped by this sudden transformation, Song Ci’s confusion only grows once he learns that another straw man murder has occurred in an entirely different county.  Pressured by the royal court to solve this unusual case quickly, Song Ci tries his best, but without any evidence, he finds himself entirely baffled by these straw man murders. Will this difficult case prove to be the great detective’s undoing, or will he find a way to solve this seemingly impossible case? “Detective Song Ci” is a 2022 Chinese historical fantasy mystery thriller film directed by Fang Ying Hua.
