David Latt

Acclaimed director David Platt began his career in television in the sound department. In 1980, he served as production manager in the horror movie "The Children," in which he also appeared as the Chauffeur. The next year he worked on "Friday the 13th Part 2" as a boom operator, and maintained this crew position through the '90s, working on films like "Weekend at Bernie's II," "Quiz Show," and "Clockers." In 1994, he began working in TV on "Law & Order" as a boom operator and a sound mixer. In 1996, he stepped up to the director's chair on "Law & Order," a series he would continue to revisit until 2005. He earned three Emmy nominations for his work on the show, and went on to direct episodes of the series' spin-offs "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Law & Order: Trial by Jury," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." In 2008, Platt stepped up to producer on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." He's also directed episodes of a number of noteworthy drama series, among them: "The Wire," "House, M.D.," and "Lie to Me."
