The Secret Agent
Brazil, 1977. Tormented by a military dictatorship enforcing increasingly oppressive measures on the population at large, Marcelo (Mourna), is a university professor on the run from the regime. He takes refuge in Recife during the week of the Carnaval, hoping to reunite with his son, and finds safety amongst a group of outsiders where he assumes a new identity. Regardless of the temporary respite, the grip of the state continually closes in around him, and the city that once promised shelter begins to simmer with conflict.
