Jürgen Habermas

German philosopher Jürgen Habermas has been involved in many of the big intellectual debates of recent decades. Now in his nineties, he began to make his voice heard in the 1960s, arguing that the economy's stranglehold on the mass media was stifling the young West German democracy and encouraging the emergence of an authoritarian state.
