Dr Devon Pravesh begins his first day as an intern and quickly learns the harsh realities of medical care. Meanwhile, resident Conrad Hawkins shows off his unconventional ways of treating patients.

The staff are pushed to their limits with three concurrent surgeries; Conrad struggles with feeling jealousy when Nic requests Jude for an operation.

A blackout forces the staff to treat their patients without the aid of technology; Conrad and Devon go against Bell's order to stop accepting new patients; Austin and Mina need to perform heart surgery.

Devon and Conrad put their trust in ex-convicts to save the life of a woman who is failing fast. Meanwhile, Nic continues to look for evidence that will incriminate Lane.

Conrad goes to extreme lengths to save Nic, Micah returns to hospital with major heart complications, and Dr Bell's alliance with Lane is tested.

Conrad unwittingly makes the situation more difficult when he defends Nic after she becomes a suspect in the investigation of Lily's death; during a low-risk procedure, Bell's patient catches on fire.
