John-Boy reaches a low point and finds that circumstances may be conspiring to make his dream come true.

JR attempts to gain control of Ray's voting shares. Bobby takes the first step towards adopting Christopher. Lucy gets upset about Mitch's friendship with an attractive older woman.

Bobby is threatened with blackmail over Christopher. Sue Ellen learns that Clayton is in love with her. Lucy becomes increasingly afraid of her possessive photographer, Roger. Finally, JR hatches a plot to ruin Cliff.

JR's continued absence and Ray's apathy toward the ranch have Bobby busy trying to keep Ewing Oil afloat and Southfork running.
