Caroline convinces Max to apply to the Manhattan School of Pastry, and Max decides on baking a tart for her entrance exam, an idea that is soon costing her considerable mental stress. Meanwhile, the girls hire Sophie's cleaning business to clean their apartment.

Caroline is upset to learn her childhood nanny has passed away, and asks Max to attend the funeral with her. Whilst there, it swiftly becomes apparent that the nanny's family have absolutely no idea who Caroline is.

Caroline is feeling guilty, so buys a new bedding set for Max. Not realising Max's old pillowcase holds sentimental value for her, Caroline donates it to charity, forcing the pair of them on a mission to recover the cherished piece of bedding.

When Caroline's date doesn't show up after promising to take her to one of the city's hippest new restaurants, she and Max decide to take advantage of the ''hard to get'' reservation.
